Ramón Novarro (1899-1968) was one of the great luminaries of the early cinema. His work is not as widely known today, yet he was one of the biggest attractions on the theatre screens of the United States and abroad. This site will offer you photos and documents to see the fascinating development of an entertainment career that spanned every major communication medium of the last century. From stage to silent and sound film stardom, radio, television, summer stock and character roles, the career of Ramón Novarro is the very history of show business in the 20th century.

You will find unpublished materials not available anywhere else.

Sources include years of personal collecting, augmented by numerous photos and materials from London’s Ramón Novarro Film Club, which was in operation from 1927 to 1984. Novarro was honorary president during his lifetime, and sent many personal items and letters to the R.N.F.C. throughout his lengthy career. It will be my pleasure to share this collection with you in this modern electronic fashion, with hopes that your interest in Ramón Novarro will invite further re-discovery of a remarkable talent of the cinema.

Ramón Gil Samaniego was born in Durango, Mexico on February 6. 1899. The son of a prosperous dentist and the eldest of thirteen children, he was to become one of the great actors of the early cinema.
